Tankerton Bay Sailing Club - Kent

Sailing Against Slavery

We invited Stop the Traffik to the club on Monday 6th May  for the launch of our first ever "Sailing Against Slavery" race series. For the whole of the month of May the Club will be remembering those trapped in slavery around the world by tieing a red ribbon to their boat when they sail. Up until this year this May race series was called the Slavery Series, but in recognition of the horrors of Modern Day Slavery we have this year renamed it the Sailing Against Slavery Series. Stop the Traffik representatives gave an overview of Modern Slavery during the race briefing to raise awareness amongst members of the reality of the issue in the UK. This is an issue we should all take seriously and we thank Cheryl from Stop the Traffik for providing the membership with such a thought provoking insight into this very modern issue. We hope that many other sailing clubs around Kent and the UK will follow our example and "Sail Against Slavery".
