Tankerton Bay Sailing Club - Kent

Become a Sponsor of TBSC Cadet Development (8-18yrs)

Tankerton Bay Sailing Club (TBSC) is inviting businesses and individuals to be part of an exciting regeneration programme of the Club’s equipment and facilities to support the growth and development of its cadet membership (8-18yrs).

About our Club

TBSC was founded in 1962 by a small group of local sailors with a passion to provide a dinghy sailing community on, arguably, one of the best and most popular locations on the North Kent coast. From a small beach hut to a formal clubhouse, the Club now offers a wide range of supported sailing and social activities for its membership of circa 250 people and certified sailing courses to the general public through its RYA Training Centre.

Club membership has been thriving over recent years and represents a broad age demographic. All Club activities and operations are provided by volunteers in its membership.

Since 2016, TBSC has been an accredited RYA Training Centre and offers courses to those who would like to begin or continue developing their confidence, skills and qualifications in dinghy sailing, as well as powerboat handling.

TBSC is proud to be a friendly, family-orientated and welcoming Club.

Our focus on cadets and youth development

Currently, TBSC has a small but growing and enthusiastic group of sailing cadets. Over the last couple of years, as part of TBSC’s Strategic Plan, we have been focusing on developing the Club’s capabilities in providing facilities and a regular programme of sailing activities to support cadets from ages 8 to 18.

Our ambition is to provide confidence-building, fun and safe sailing opportunities for young people, which includes growing the size of our current cadet group and establishing more events to encourage beginners (non-members) to experience sailing through such initiatives as ‘have a go at sailing’. It aims to support young people with all levels of sailing ability, from beginners to advanced, and those aspiring to compete in club-level and inter-club (or higher) racing. TBSC wishes to become a more recognised location on the North Kent coast for young people to learn to sail.

The experience and enjoyment gained from learning to sail can provide many important developmental skills, as well as mental health benefits, for young people.

We would also like to support cadets still in education between ages 16-18 when it typically becomes more challenging to continue with their sailing and membership aspirations.

TBSC has the following schemes that are funded by members and ex-members to support cadet development:

To be able to achieve its ambitions, TBSC needs help from investors/sponsors/donations to repair, upgrade, or, in some cases, replace its old dinghies and equipment, to make general improvements to the Club’s facilities, and to provide funding to support the cadet development programme of activities.

Your involvement through sponsorship

Tankerton’s beach and coastline are very popular locations for people in Kent and for tourists, especially during the Spring and Summer seasons. TBSC has become a well-known landmark with thousands walking past it or sitting around it (on the beach) every year.

TBSC is inviting businesses and individuals to invest in the development of its facilities to support young people through offering a broad range of quality opportunities to learn to sail, as well as to advance their existing skills.

TBSC offers the following levels of sponsorship for 2024:

GOLD level sponsorship - £1,000

SILVER level sponsorship - £500

BRONZE level sponsorship - £150

BESPOKE sponsorship or donation

Sponsorships and donations will be promoted/mentioned on TBSC’s social media channels unless anonymity or privacy is desired.

To discuss your involvement, please contact Ed Grundon, TBSC Lead for Cadet Development, by email at honorarysecretary@tbsc.co.uk.
