A brilliant first half of the year for our cadets
Not only has the Saturday cadet club been a brilliant success, we now have cadets competing fiercely across the TBSC races, class and championship races and now on a global scale!
Firstly, looking at this year’s cadet club, run brilliantly by Ed Grundon and the cadet parents. With regular turnouts of 12 to 15 participants each Saturday, the cadets have improved week on week. Ed puts together a programme for each weekend, focusing cadets in 2 groups, those who are more experienced and then a second group for novices and improvers. This has proved really effective with great feedback from cadets and parents alike, culminating in a fun sail and pizza party last Saturday, being the final cadet club before the summer break.
This club feeds into the Wednesday Cadet series, run alongside our normal Wednesday series, this is where cadets are honing their skills and putting together some great sails, chasing down those more experienced and (dare I say) whiter of hair sailors as they do so! It’s been brilliant to see with more Wednesdays to come during August.
Alongside this we then have the top tier who are now competing nationally and internationally with Elliot and Leo Fleming taking part in local Topper TTs, Jack Taylor representing Kent in the UK topper event in Cumbria (where Kent was the county winner) and last but no means least, Ralph Hadley competing in the Topper Worlds in Spain and coming a brilliant 5th in the 4.2 class. WOW, what a year it’s been and there is still a huge chunk of sailing to go.
Come on your guys, all of TBSC are justly proud of the cadets and legacy we are starting to build. More of the same please!!
